Originally used to relieve back pain in the late twentieth century, Shock Shoes cushioned every step while keeping core muscles engaged throughout the day. This fur and rubber model, though initially very unpopular on account of its static electricity-producing properties gained attention during the COVID-19 crisis. Due to the shoes’ width and surface they transform the wearer into a power plant - charging them with enough electricity that touching anything or anyone became unsustainably painful - the ideal fashion accessory in the social distancing age.
Findings show that this model was originally produced in collaboration with podiatrist Dr. Margaret Bunion for individuals suffering from asymetric cracked heel syndrome. Having been heavily criticized for the unwanted side effects of her design at first, Bunion was later celerbrated as a hero for saving many lives in the 2020s.
